With over 30 years of executive and board experience over 4 continents in professional services, technology and investment management as a serial entrepreneur, investor, executive and regulatory compliance specialist, Gatica Investments Pty Ltd applies Brendan Foley's knowledge, experience, and network to a portfolio of high growth businesses primarily in the finance and technology sectors, now predominantly as a non-executive director.
As an Australian and Swiss citizen (and responsible manager on multiple ASIC Australian Financial Services Licences over the last 20 years), he is currently seeking to add independent non-executive directorships (private and public companies) to his board portfolio in Australia, the UK and/or Switzerland.
Brendan is currently an executive director of Inception Asset Management (www.inceptionam.com.au), a Sydney based specialist investment manager with a private markets focus, and a non-executive director of its portfolio companies: Unifii (www.unifii.com.au); Invert Robotics (www.invertrobotics.com); and Epsilon Direct Lending (www.epsilondl.com.au).
Brendan had co-founded the Select Asset Management Limited group in Australia in 2002. Select Fund Services provided responsible entity and trustee services to over 20 ASIC registered schemes with funds under administration of over A$900 million and Select Investment Partners managed and advised on funds totalling over A$700m by the time of the Select group’s sale to the ASX listed OneVue Holdings Limited (now part of IRESS ASX:IRE) in August 2014.
In 1995, prior to co-founding the Select group, Brendan co-founded a technology business in the UK, Inventure (later becoming Fenics Limited), focused on the finance sector, which was sold to the NYSE listed GFI Group Inc. in April 2001.
In 1991 Brendan joined the Man Group PLC (Man) in Switzerland where he was respectively Treasurer of its Fund Management Division, Finance Director of its major subsidiary, Adam, Harding and Lueck (AHL), and, after Man’s IPO in 1994, a director of Man Investments Limited. Brendan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young where he worked for eight years in both South Africa and the United Kingdom.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Accounting degrees from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
